New England Snowfall!

Ok, so for the last couple of weeks, WINTER has not wanted to die, wither and disappear. During the last 3-4 weeks it has snowed, HEAVY, and then vanished within 24hrs. Because I had a broken wrist and well, was on a hiatus for obvious reasons I just stayed put and watched from a window. Now that my wrist is better I was able to grab the camera and start snapping away at the final snow of the 2012-2013 Winter Season. In my part of Bedstuy-Brooklyn, the snow wasnt too crazy, only 3-5 inches. Further north in the Bronx, and Yonkers area it was 5+ and so forth as you go further north, as much as 13″ accumulation. I have a few more pics coming over the next day or so, but thank god I am going back to work too this week so I will be busy busy busy. Enjoy for now =)!
Standing tall in the storm, 237 Years and counting….

George Washington Statue at the Continental Army Plaza, Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The clouds in the sky give this sense of… constant turbulence, and I think George knew it too…
“This park takes its name from the striking equestrian sculpture of George Washington (1732 1799) — Commander in Chief and first President of the United States (1789 1797) — which serves as its centerpiece.
The plaza, bounded by Roebling, South Fourth, and South Fifth Streets, was first built by the Department of Public Works (also known as Plant and Structures), in conjunction with the construction of the Williamsburg Bridge, which opened in 1903. The opening of the bridge transformed the surrounding community from an upper class resort to a district comprised of working class immigrants. Federal Works Progress Administration funds were applied toward the renovation of the plaza in 1936 in order to improve access to the monument, repair the balustrade, and install streetlighting. Also around this time a pavilion was removed from the site. In 1938 the plaza and monument were transferred to the custody of the Department of Parks NYC.”

Subway travel during a storm…
For most New Yorkers the Subway is our personal 24/7 get me there ride. But during heavy storms and or conditions, the MTA adopts a system-wide posture of defense to safeguard equipment and its next-gen subway cars.
At $1 million each, yes a million, the MTA stores all modern subways underground along its express tracks thus providing the best shelter possible with pre-existing options. It is an unprecedented and intelligent way to safeguard a system that is over 105 years old.
Its a significant challenge to safeguard New York’s investments…. That and like most magnetic induction tech, is durable under every hazardous condition, except the cold!
I am only thanking the transit gods that tonight, the bk bound 4 line is running express!
As I am typing this it is a wonder to see sooo many people still travel about, as if its any other day.
30 years ive lived in NYC and more than ever, this age old network of Iron Horses still keeps this city moving…

Elliot Martinez Performing "SOUL ON FIRE" in Winter Garden,FL
Reblogged from ElliotMartinez.com:
Elliot Martinez performs at THE GATHERING in winter park,fl on February 2nd 2013.
I had a really good time performing at high society during "the gathering" show. A lot of familiar faces. The crowd was really responsive and I was surprised at how people knew the words, I didn't even release the track in mp3 yet!
